Wow.  I sure have learned a lot from this sight.  I didn't even know your were allowed to go out on the ice without beer.  I still don't think I want to try it though.  Maybe that's where they came up with Bud Ice.

don't get me wrong,I love my beer ( icehouse, a beer and a shot in one) there is too much going on while I am fishing. I move around alot to try and find the big schools. I spend about 15 min at each location until I find what I am looking for, I might drill about  30 to 50 holes while I am out. a small pond will look like swiss cheese when I get done. but I usually find'em.
if your not walking on water, then you're not icefishing!

Have you hopped skipped or jumped over to see if anything is locked up or started???
let me know what you find. I have a buddy at work that says it isn't one of the first in the area to lock up. usually its backwaters at webster and it was wide open.
Lack of planning on your part in NO way constitutes an EMERGENCY on mine

Winona is still open.  Little Eagle, the small lake, is starting to skim over.  And yes, Backwaters is one of the first fished.  I have seen guys fish that one when only 1/2 the lake had ice.  It is shallow from the boat ramp out.
