Anyone been hammering trout on Diefenbaker? Let's get some reports on how to get the bows on the ice.

here is my theory on the rainbows that got out from the fish farm a few years ago.
I have noticed that the walleye are being caught again this past summer in good numbers I think the numbers of trout (fish farmed ones) have gone down even this winter I have not heard much about trout being caught on Dief but everything else has been good. just my 2 cents
go to taxidermy, mount it on the wall

The trout farm fish only have a shelf life of 5 years. This is what ive been told by people that run the fish farm. There are always the wild trout a person can catch but you must be aware of what part of the lk. the trout will be spending time. And thats one H*ll of a big shoreline to be fishing.LOL If a person knows the lake then you have only half the battle beat.Heck even the fellow with the beard that writes in the Sunday Sun has been skunked while trying to teach flyfisherman a thing or two so ive been told.It can be one tough fishery. Some are catching walleye on the lk. again where walleye used to be yrs ago so a cycle is again popping up.A good example of this cycle is if you were to throw a line in at the FF you may find more weeds than ever before......hence more walleye..pike...sauger etc.

Late this fall I did alot of rainbow fishing off my neighbors dock. Just before freeze up around Nov. 1 to the 15. Every night I would go down and throw out ice cream pail full of fish food and then fish with a pickerel rig or slip bobber until dark. Every night if it was calm the rainbows would come in the shallow water and you could see them feeding. There was 100's from very small, like 1 pound and up to who knows how big. But since the ice formed and I was able to ice fish I have not seen one. Fishing from very shallow out to 60 ft. The other guys I fish with say the same. So they must have gone very deep. It is down to 200 ft. out in front of my house. Just a theory.

Thanks for the input guys! Anyone who finally figures out where the trout are is encouraged to share their experiences.
