I would just like to point all the people out there that like to re-write history books that Lake George is not the King.  It is known, and documented and well advertised that it is the "Queen of American Lakes"  I have lived not much more than a 5 minuted drive from it my entire life and I spent many a summer working for the Lake George Steamboat Co. so I might have a little knowledge about it.  It might be named after King George, but it is called the Queen of American Lakes I assure you.  I'm sure you will all keep calling it  "The King", for the people that like to be accurate, you now know, go ahead I challenge you, look it up I assure you if you do a search for "Queen of Americal Lakes" you'll get hundreds of articles on lake george.  I just thought I would get this out there because I am sure a long time ago some half wit on here mistook someone and started calling it the King and everyone followed along.

Both parties are right. It is the "Queen of American lakes" and a lot of people call it that. It is beautiful and the queen of a lot of lakes and the Adirondacks. But it has been referenced as the "King" because of being named after King George. Lake George was an area of a lot of fighting during the French and Indian Wars and during the American Revolution. We shouldn't fight over the name and enjoy the history and the great fishing Lake George and the area has to offer.

Do a search on the subject matter and you will find that the majority of the people that call Lake George the "King" are very well educated fisherman! Infact if you spend a bit of time reading some posts here at the iceshanty you will find that the very people that call it the King are the same folks that post the statements about the correct historical naming of the KING.

I suppose you are one of those nuts that wanna call it Horicon?

We call it the KING for specific reasons if ya dont like dont read the posts!
