Me an my buddie were planning on heading up to fish for the first time Sat. but Fri. night my brother convinced us to do the last weekend of the shotgun hunt by his house instead. This guy jumped out in front of me on our second drive and I was convinced I made the right choice!! Sorry not an ice fishing pic but I was pretty excited, I usually hunt WAY up north with rifle/bow and this was my first notch on the Benelli 12-ga, great fun!!

Wow, way to go! That's exactly what my hopes are for today...I was going to head up to Northern NY where I know there is some ice, but decided to hunt the last day of regular season instead. Nothing in the morning, but I have confidence that the afternoon will be a good one to hunt.

Although I still have a week left for late muzzleloader...

Good call on going hunting!!!

We did drill some holes up here in Wausau with minimal success (went for picklin' pike). Both lakes we fished had 6 inches of ice, but with this warm weather and possible rain, who knows if it be safe next weekend.

Thanks everybody, whew its been a long week, haven't been able to get on. anyway looks like we got our answer muskie nut. Wisconsin has been like spring weather all week, no ice for christmas

Very slow....had all my tip ups set by 7:20am Sat, first flag was at 8:30'ish with only 6 inches of line taken out. Next flag was an hour later at 9:30'ish, almost slid past the tip up, and the spool was just screaming. I pulled the tip up and set the hook, seemed I was pulling in line forever, then under the ice (7 inches and clear) I saw my lil bobber coming, so I knew the end was near. Then I saw the fish coming, and I saw it blaze past the hole and head in the other direction. I knew I had to be semi careful being it was the only tip up I had a mono leader on. After all was said and done, I had a 21 inch pike flopping on the ice. I closed shop shortly after 11am. Not the best, but also not my worst..was great to be out there!!!

Not a bad day Muskie. It's awsome when the ice is clear and you can see the fish coming from off the side. I called the bait store today for conditions cause I got the rest of the week off. He said one guy has been coming in for shiners every morning but getting off the lake by 11. Pretty poor conditions yet. I know just where to go though so I'm gonna give it a try Wed. or Thurs. early. I am seriously jonesing to drop a line thru the ice.

Hope to see some pics, I have my pike pic posted on Wausau Area...We Have Ice thread. After Friday, I'll be off thru the 1st...10 days....hopefully spent ice fishing.
