It’s another beacon of the upcoming ice season for us further south.   Or an imminent signal that the end of another season is here…. At least in December it’s not the later.

Again.....  https://www.yahoo.com/news/122-anglers-had-rescued-minnesota-115030098.html

I just checked the report on Friday. Many resorts weren't even allowing foot traffic. Some 8" spots, but very inconsistent ice.

Just checked report from yesterday, JRs said don't go past the crack at 9' of water.

Those 122 guys are dumbasses. They had vehicles out there too. Morons.

This happens every year up here. More so this year. I believe this is the fourth or fifth time it has happened this winter. And one of them was from someone trying to land a plane on the ice.

I think that was an accident. Guy missed his landing spot or had trouble. He didn't intend to land on the lake.

They flew to the lake for a day of ice fishing and thought they had safe ice to land on. There wasn't enough snow on the ice to help the plane stop and they slid onto thin ice and broke through.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

They absolutely meant to land there. People are really that stupid. Their mistake was thinking they were landing on 6" of ice instead of 2". Every year it is the same problems with resorts allowing 4 wheelers and SxS out too early, most of the drivers going too fast and then they wonder why the ice gets messed up. If the resorts make the responsible decision and close then people just go to the next one and ruin things there.

A friend and I used his airplane for ice fishing occasionally. When we landed on a lake there were already pickups on the ice.
