2 Master Anglers, 2 Near Misses and a Mess of Eaters
« on: Nov 26, 2006, 03:31 PM »
I know this is not ice, but I just got back from a Walleye charter on the Bay of Quinte. Me and 3 friends hit the water on saturday for a very memrable Day.

It was a great day on the water weather wise, it was +8 very little wind and the sun was shining, so the walleye gods were against us, but we concered

ChowderHead bundles up as we get ready to start the day

I took the wheel as Ken had first dibs on first fish of the day (damn you, odds & evens!)

The day started off with a near miss on a Master Angler Eye coming in at 9.3lbs

Another friend "Walker" had second strike and was up not 15 minutes after first fish

he started off with a nice eater around the 5lb mark

The Eater streak contiunes as Chowder gets his first fish of the day a high 8lber

I got to round out the group and was  up fourth

Took an early lead with a personal best and a master angler 10.5lb!!!

Back to the top of the batting order, Ken brought us in another quality eater

Walker nets a quick eater as well

We then got into a dry spell, all the above fish were caught prior to 11:30 am so in about 3+ hours of fishing. It was not untill the change of drivers and an hour or more of fishing that we hooked into the next fish....Look at the rod bend!!

The suspence was killing us as ChowderHead hauled in a monster, Dave our guide took his time weighin in,

Worth the wait, as ChowderHead nest a master angler and a monster 12.5lbs

The fish were on again as it was not 5 minutes later that I got a second go, and hooked into a nice 8lb eye. This fish was released as per Quinte regs we had our limit of  fish over 25 inches

Moments later Ken wrapped up our day with a nice eater

After that the fish clammed up and we really just had a nice boat ride for the next couple hours. Our Guide Dave kept us laughing during the wieght.

So as you can see the day was unbeatable, 9 eyes, 2 of them master anglers (both of which are off the to the taxidermist). As we cleaned fish on the ramp we watched boat after boat come in empty handed, while our guide is getting us some sweet fillets, he was also handed out cards to a line of guys who were drooling over our catch.

Here's our group shot of the day, minue to one 8lber that we released

those are some great eyes! I bet they were a blast to catch. Did the charter stop trolling when u hooked a fish to let you fight them out, or was it pretty much yank em in while he still drives?

how long do you master anglers have to be?

He did not completely stop, but he slowed right down, so you could do battle with your fish, the 12.5 took some time for Chowder to get in and my 10.5 whent down deep, even at the boa the was 15+ feet down. Nice head shakes on the bog ones as well, ealry and late in the fight, a few good swells at the boat as well

I don't really consider it big water until you get to Lake Ontario...Where you allowed two lines..The Bay of Quinte has coughed up numerouse fish this year ranging from 9-16lbs...Glad you had the chance to expirence a day on the water with Dave  IceJunky...Although I have only met him in person twice, a day on the water will be planned within the next year for sure....

Some amazing fish there for sure bro :D Nice to see the big ones moving in...Locals are now getting them from shore over 10..might be worth the 2 hour trip...
