Who cares? They can make all the videos they want and it still won't matter much.  Will some drills have more torque, will they be able to drill through steel better, be lighter, have bigger and longer lasting batteries, probably.  Just like us, everyone will be different.  Like they say, the proof is in the pudding.  With so many different variables, while using a drill designed for drilling steel and wood, it is different ball game when drilling through ice.   The ice depth and hardness and the weather such as the temperature, etc. etc. etc. will be different and everyone will have a different experience.  As for me, I purchased the M18 hammer/drill because those on here said it was a good drill for drilling holes in the ice.  And, now that I have used it for 2 seasons, going on 3, I can honestly say that I am happy with the drill and the results I have had using it.  Does it have 1200 lbs of torque?  Do I really care?  Probably not!  But, I do care that it continues to do what I want it to do and that's make a hole so that I can fish.  Therefore, I'll continue to recommend it.

Wait a minute.... Are you saying that if they come out with a newer model, the older model doesn't instantly become useless???!!!  ;D

I hope so. I just got a new one and a Pistol bit. A bit cold for fishing right now so cannot comment yet. Normal winter returns this weekend so hopefully full fishing ahead.

I don't buy the best, lightest, brightest, prettiest, every time a new one comes out.  I buy the best I can buy at that time and if it works, I use it until it no longer works.  If I wanted to keep up with the Jones, I would stay broke.  Now for the Hummingbird Helix.  I'm getting a mega 7 SI 4GN soon.  Why because I just bought a boat and want one.  I'm pretty sure that will be the last graph I'll ever own, given the fact that I'm 65.  Yes, even in five years, when the panoptics comes down to under 1,500.00, if that ever happens, I won't be buying one!
At age 65, you should get an 8 or 9 or bigger. Your eyes are only gonna get older….
