Frabill Aerator question

I’ve been using the insulated frabill bucket with the aerator that came with it. Runs on 2 D batteries and chews thru them pretty quick. For this season I’m either going to get some rechargeable batteries or upgrade to the aerator frabill makes that can be plugged in and bypasses the batteries. Similar price for either. Any recommendations or thoughts on the better option? Kinda leaning towards the better aerator. Thanks!

If I needed to run it at home, I would go for the upgrade and use my AC power.

FWIW - I run rechargeable Ni-MH batteries in just about everything around the house (I stick w/ alkaline in my smoke and CO alarms).  The rechargeable Ni-MH D batteries do just fine out on the ice in my old Marine Metal Products Bubble Box aerators.  I charge the batteries up after each outing.  Ni-MH also do not corrode/explode like alkalines sometimes do, so not a big deal if you forget and leave them in all summer.

Rechargeables for me. 2 seem to last all day. Carry an extra pair just in case. Charge back up when I get home. Initial cost is more than the standard Lithiums, but saves money in the long run.

When I am keeping minnows at home I use an aerator for an aquarium that plugs in. It beats worrying about batteries dying.

The only minnows I will buy are fat heads. They will survive in slush ice with no aerator for me.
