Crapper ideas
« on: Dec 13, 2022, 04:58 AM »

Getting old don't want a load with me. In case I stay out longer than usual. Good lid would work so I don't have to cut the ones I like using now.

Luggable Loo lid on a six gallon bucket (taller than five gallon) with one of those two layer sealable camp human waste bags inside.

Garbage bag in a 5-gallon bucket.  When leaving the lake, place  the bag in your buddy's pickup bed. ;)

Just cut the bottom out of a bucket. Place over hole. Lure them in with scent. Or let it freeze and throw at neighbor.

For a bunch of years I carried the Luggable Loo toilet seat that goes on a bucket.  Thank goodness I never had to use it, but it seemed like it would get the job done in a "pinch".  I have also heard of people taking Imodium or another anti-diarrhea pill before heading out.  Binds you up and no worries.  I have used this method once or twice.  Yep - sacrifice the body for a sport you love.

I made a bucket lid out of two layers of 3/4" plywood.
One ring that fits inside the bucket and one that sits on top.
Then used 1" Styrofoam SM on top of the outside piece to sit on.
Toasty on the bum no matter the temp.
Garbage bag in the bucket before dropping the seat on and you're good to go.   ;)

Thanks for those with real info. I'm on 1/2 a heart now and wouldn't wish this on anybody. 1 crap turns into 3 sometimes 4 in minutes. I think we can close the lid on this thread now.

I take care of business before going but if you have issues the trash bag lined 5 gallon bucket with seat is optimal. Just remember to watch your balance and not lean beyond the critical angle of bucket slippage. I do keep a small kitchen trash bag in the shanty with a partial roll for emergencies.

Cat litter in the bottom of the bag makes it a little cleaner to pack up, especially when the time hits unexpectedly.

5 gal bucket with hd trash bags topped with a pool noodle. Cut a slit in the noodle and it will clamp the bag in place while also being comfy to sit on.

Love the pool noodle idea.  Have to give that a try just to see how it goes.  A dry run of sorts.

I really don’t wanna know what/how people do to take a crap on the ice. Gotta be better things to start threads about. 🤦🏻

It's actually one of those things that no one wants to talk about but is actually very helpful for a whole lot of other folks who don't want to ask. I'm glad the question was asked, and I'm sure others are too.
Maybe someday I'll think of something clever to write here...but I doubt it.

I’m sure everyone has a way to deal with the urge. I’d rather not read about it. 👍🏻

This does affect other people. Last spring, when the snow on the ice melted, all of the "brown trout" and TP piles were visible. I had no idea what a mess people had made over the winter. I was never out of sight of a pile.
With more people camping out on the ice, this is an even bigger problem than it used to be. As sportsmen, I believe that this should be a part of a "leave no trace" ethic, especially since there are more people out on the ice every year.

I will pick up your beer cans and other trash, but this is where I draw the line. A luggable loo is a good solution, but leaving it on top of the ice is not.

It’s not just on the ice, forest too. Read an article about some backcountry trails in Colorado getting way to much crap. Colorado tourism is working on handing out ready-made-poop-disposal kits. Not all humans are as civilized as others. Litter comes in all forms.

Luggable loo with Menards bags.  I am there every week ands save them throughout the year.    I use them ice fishing and at my cabin when the water is off (in winter).

Dude wipes are great, word of advice, makes sure you don't leave them where they can freeze, espically when it's the one and only thing at your disposal for clean up!
