Lake Arthur eyes
« on: Feb 09, 2022, 06:33 AM »
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone on here targets walleye on lake Arthur? I have never fished lake Arthur but due to work I can’t make it home to drill some holes and drop some lines. So, guess I’m gonna try Arthur and hope the weather doesn’t ruin the ice before I can land some fish. Also, does anyone know the ice thickness on this lake?

I've not measured the ice in some time.  There is plenty of it over 10".  There are walleye to be caught.  Not your best producing lake for numbers.

Thanks, I’m headed out soon. Hopefully I pull some through the ice. You know why people only fish the two ends of the lake? There’s a lot of untouched territory there.

The main part of the lake is always sketchy. It never freezes well. It was going well this year until the first snow storm. I think it was doing well again until last week when we got rain. I'm sure it doesn't have anywhere near the ice that the fingers have. That probably keeps most people away, including myself. I did see a few people near the Bear Run launch last weekend but they were pretty close the shore in the bay. If you decide to try going out there, be sure to have a spud bar, ice picks, and tell someone where you're going. I'd hate to see something bad happen out there.

I’d like to come in from the north side beach. When I checked the ice a couple/few weeks ago I did notice it was open water in the center

And yes, I was wondering what the rain did to the ice

I've found no areas that would cause me concern on the main lake.

Theres about 7 inches of good clear ice out of watts bay with an inch or two of crappy ice on top.  Just watch the crack where the dirt congregated on it.  It melted it a pretty decent amount in the last three hours.
