I noticed this at Fleet Farm, tried looking them up on web and can not find anything, not even Celsius website.  Appears to be a Jaw Jacker type tip up.
Wondering if they are not exclusive to Fleet Farm this year.

Anyone use one?

Looks like a good deal compared to JawJacker.

It might work okay but there's a couple of issues. The rod holder section doesn't appear to be adjustable as opposed to JJ's three positions, which you'll need depending on rod

length and action. Made of aluminum as opposed to the JJ's plastic, which is a potential plus,  but they weigh in at 5 lbs. which seems pretty heavy. Only available in-store at Fleet

Farms, no internet sales. I'll pass.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

I handled one at Fleet Farm and they are not 5 pounds like advertised.  Maybe 1 pound.  You make some good points for many users of this site.

It appears as if the rod holder is adjustable.

I'd bite on one if they were available online or even in store to ship to Utah. Just tried and it's a no go unless you live by a store and pick it up there . Definitely appears to be a FF thing only. Right now

I've got my JJ's already bought and paid for. Tested, tried and true.
And they are a sponsor of Ice Shanty.
But I sure love gadgets... ;D:tipup:

Looks like something one can make. and it does adjust from the end of it. A smaller tube in a larger tube with a lock. Just get out the PVC and go for it guy's Notch the arms at the end and put in some kind of spike and use some pins to adjust a smaller PVC in a larger one. Can't wait to see your pictures when done. Who is going to be first to build one?

many auto set rigs out there these days but they all rip off the "steelie slammer" from the 70s.

several years ago, I found some pvc homemade ones on the net, and made some mods.  I can make about 5 for 20bucks and they work great. collapsible if you don't glue together.  trigger set is infinite adjustable.  with a downrigger release you can use as big of baits you want.  with light set you can smack pans with bee moths or crappie with minnows.

you can make it for any rod you want. when I use my short pan rods, I have an eye screw in the side of main beam to hook the trigger to.

grab the stuff and make you one, and see what you think. cut some pipe drill a hole and bend some wire.  my  wife could even make them. lol

I have made at least 5 different ones since the Jaw Jacker came out. I now just use the old wire rod holder and put a steel leader on it with a trigger. Works great.

The problem with most designs is that they use a single stage trigger. The force of the rod is held directly by the release of the line. The jaw jacker and this one have a 2 stage trigger- the pole is held down by a lever, and then that lever is pulled down by the line. Because of the mechanical advantage, no matter how much rod tension, the force of the lever on the trigger is a lot lower. I made some using a mouse trap to get a 2 stage trigger, but the geometry is still not ideal. Has anyone come up with a simple to build 2 stage trigger for these? I am thinking of experimenting over Christmas to see what I can come up with.

FYI, the trigger on these celsius ones are real weak. We 3D printed some newer stronger ones but they just don't hold a candle to the JJ design. If you or anyone else finds a simple easy design for the 2 stage it would be nice. Until then I'll just keep putting out my JJ's

badger,   whats the 2 stage trigger doing for you?  force to set it off? delay in set?

Not sure what the proper name would be, but if you look at a jaw jacker, or a mousetrap, it has a 2 stage trigger. The trigger holds down a bar, that second bar holds down the rod tip or the mouse masher part. If you have a 1 stage trigger, the trigger would hold down the rod or mouse masher directly.
The advantage is, the force on the trigger is less, and therefore the trigger can be more sensitive.
There are designs for auto hooking devices made of wire, but they are a 1 stage design, and the sensitivity is hard to get right.

ok I figured it was sensitivity you were after.  but you can set the wire trigger as sensitive as you ever need.  I made my wire longer than some to take advantage of leverage. if i bend the end that goes threw the eyelet I can set it so light the wind sets it off. it does take a bit of playing with but not too bad.

  • Where did I leave the extension?????
I know its an old thread, but I have the celsius, the jaw jacker, and an automatic fisherman.

The Automatic fisherman is by far the toughest and simplest......but it is also bulky and hard to adjust. Set it for a rod and use it with that rod.....field adjustments to the trigger rod would be difficult at best.

The Jaw Jacker is my personal choice, packs away in a small package and is easily adjusted in the field.....I have markings for different rods depending on what I using that day on the side of the unit......simple and easy

The Celsius/HT versions are almost as easy as the jaw jacker, but the rod angle adjustment is  limited, the quality isn't as good, and the trigger mechanism is inferior (rough and non linear).......I have spent time polishing the surfaces of the trigger arms to make them better, but they still do not have the range of adjustment or smoothness of the jaw jacker system

With the Jaw jacker system I can change from a pike set up to a walleye set up to a panfish set up in literally a minute by pulling 2 pins, repositioning the pin holes and adjusting the tension on the trigger.......IMHO you get what you pay for applies in this instance.
