Rapala Fillet Knife Cord
« on: Mar 06, 2021, 01:15 PM »
The recall post made me think of this, and didn't want to hijack it.  I have the plug-in electric fillet knife.  I love everything about it, except for the 20 mile cord.  Does anyone know if I can shorten it without cutting and taping? That would be dangerous around water.  Can I take it apart, cut and reattach the cord?

Hardware store...new plug....cut to the length that suits you and install the new plug. You can get them polarized or unpolarized to match what you have.

you know how you wrap an extension cord and then wind the end to finish it off? do that and make it as short as you want

I didn't see what the recall was for. I just retired my rapala for two issues. The trigger often stuck keeping the knife running while using. This season the AC/DC connector with the cigarette lighter end got sloppy and often cut out during use. Bought a Bubba cordless battery operated knife. Has four sets of blades and 2 batteries. Nice not dealing with the cord.

Recall was for the lithium ion batteries in the cordless model. Apparently they can have issues when people charge them using a charger other than the one they come with. I never had any issues with mine, but got them replaced anyways. I love the cordless knife; it's awesome for salmon at the cleaning station in the summer.

I don't really mind the cord when I am using the knife, except it hangs and coils all over my kitchen.  It's trying to stuff the knife with all of that cord in the case. It's worse than stuffing an oversized sleeping bag in a stuff sack.  I think I will take a trip to the hardware store. Thanks for the replies.
