Ice conditions upcoming weekend
« on: Feb 25, 2021, 12:03 PM »
Hey all,
hoping to make a trip up from mass to do a little bit of ice fishing for some panfish/bass/picks this weekend in the southern part of the state. Given the recent warm spell I was wondering if anyone has any insight into the ice conditions in the southern part of NH (Merrimack, Hillsborough, Rockingham, Strafford counties). Any info/extra tips would be appreciated!

It's overstated but also true, that it will vary from lake to lake, especially given you're talking generally about four different counties.

I'm in northern Strafford and on my lake I'm seeing anywhere from 6-10" of ice with a nice layer of crap on top of it.  I'm no ice-ologist but much as the layer of snow & slush has been preventing the ice from getting much deeper I'd think it would insulate it a bit from the warmth as well.  It's still below freezing each night up my way.
