Upgrading 1st gen Eskimo Pistol Bit

I noticed that the center point and base plates from the 2nd gen pistol bits are available on the Eskimo parts page and I'm curious if anyone has tried upgrading their 1st gen (non center point) pistol bit.  I emailed Eskimo CS, but haven't heard back from them yet.

I think I read once someone else tried to do that and they were told they had to buy the newer version. Could be wrong but that is what I remember. I AM 68 Though.

Thanks for the replies Lefty & hardwater.  Ended up finally getting a reply from CS this afternoon, saying it was not possible. A little further searching turned up this tread I missed before making my original post, that shows it's an easy mod.
