Getting excited
« on: Dec 15, 2020, 04:56 AM »
Looks like some ice making weather this week for the Northern part of the state at least. I’ve got a brand new Dewalt dcd998 and a brand new lite flite 8 that are just waiting for some ice to eat! Anyone else have a new toy they are dying to try this season?

I haven’t used the DEWALT but have the same bit on my rigid and love it would never go back to gas or propane .

For new toy this year bought the new 360 cabelas pop up shelter to replace my old one this one is thermal but have herd bad reviews on the zippers so I guess we will see.
I’m here for the cusk !!!!

I've had one of those shelters for  6+ years (before it was totally thermal, just the roof is insulated on mine). It has been bulletproof! Just be easy with it and it will last a long time!

Got some new tip-ups from Forest City.
Can't wait. Watching the weather and hoping to have enough to at least fish near shore this weekend.

Being on a slim budget I can't afford an ATV or a snowmobile so I bought a sled harness and built a pulk out of my jet sled.  Its not exactly pretty but hopefully will make it easier to drag the sled out on the ice.  I separated my left shoulder in the Army and have difficulty with the range of motion in that arm so getting the weight off the shoulder should help things along.  I'm not exactly debilitated but not getting any younger so finally exploring ways to make life easier.  Life would be a lot easier with loads of cash for toys but it ain't gonna happen.

Sled harness will definitely help. I will sometimes tie a longer sled rope right to my backpack and that makes it a lot easier.

I used paracord, snap links and  PVC pipes to give myself a better chance to not get run over going downhill.  I've seen rigs like what I made used in Norway behind skis but I am not that graceful and gave myself 5 feet of separation since that's enough for snowshoes and still fits in the back of the Jeep.

I forgot to add I also bought a Ski Doo Expedition widetrack this spring that’s been sitting in my garage all summer and hasn’t seen snow yet!
