Livescope Perspective
« on: Feb 26, 2020, 11:59 AM »
Anyone have a chance to test it out yet? Not sure how useful it is for ice fishing but I'm certainly looking to test it for open water. My favorite lake is 10' deep at best so this mode might be the best yet.

I may or may not have shoved my arm down a hole today to try it...But I was on a golf course pond with no structure, so I can't say that I was able to really test it.

It looks really good for finding structure. Mat Rowan has some videos on his Facebook:

I'm going to DIY a mount for my kayak using The transom mount that came with LiveScope:

I dunno. At first perspective really had my upgrade hormones roaring. Installed the update on my 1242XSV to see if simulator mode would seal the deal or not. Have been thinking about upgrading by going to livescope. But system I have now works so well. Granted the older panoptix doesn't show the detail that livescope does. But it still finds fish very effectively.

After watching the 1242 in the simulated perspective view. It really cooled my upgrade fever. Seemed to me to be really grainy regardless of settings. I will wait until I see some real life videos.

Man, that is awesome, I guess I didn’t realize the whole image is also live and not a scan like birds’ 360. That really is a birds eye view of what’s going on around you. Then just switch to forward or down vu to fish with once you got your holes punched in all the key spots. I still think that the image would be more useful if they did the “realvu” angles, not just from above.

I also didn’t realize it was a software update and you just turn the existing transducer sideways  :o that makes total sense! If they got that to show the broad cross section like the realvu, but live, it seriously would be like watching a fish tank!
