Help with a spoon identification please
« on: Jan 20, 2020, 02:55 PM »
Hi everyone.  Could you please help me with indentification of what spoon type this is?  I found one in my lure box this weekend and hooked up a dropper chain to it and it worked like a charm for perch fishing.  I'd like to find a few more, but I have no idea what it is, or how long I've owned it.  Pics are of the front and the back of it.  Thanks in advance for your help!

looks a lot like the Hali Sukkula jig. Shuks jigger minnows are very similar also. we use quit often for perch and other species

I was just on the Overstock Bait website - saw a listing under 'spoons' that was really close to what you have here - check it for yourself
Now is the time for all good men and women to engage in the sport of ice fishing

Had bought some that were very similar to that years ago. About 1 1/4” long with a chain and single hook and a nice epoxy finish on them. I believe the name on the package was “Kodiak”. Don’t remember if that was the lure name or the mfg. name.

Yeah, I think I have some too.  Kodiak seems familiar , the ones I have came from Meijer.

The first one is a "kodiak perpetual motion jigging spoon". I have one left in my tackle box and I just found my email receipt from Fish 307 back in 2012. I had bought a bunch of them a few years earlier and loved them. They are thicker than a hali and sink really fast and straight. They also have a metallic foil wrap that looks really sharp.
I just found these which have the same name, but are larger and not the same shape: https://www.kodiaksg.com/products/kc-5-series-perpetual-motion-jigs/

I'll probably order a few and hope they are as good as the old ones.

It's a Smelt Stick. Don't know who makes'em.

Looks like a Hali jig without the chain and hook.

Thanks for all the input.  The best I can tell, it appears that Dinosaur1 is correct with the smelt stick guess.

Yup...Smelt stick from K&E Tackle.
The only time I learn something is when I'm not talking.
