Be optimistic, but I don't think it will ice over for a bit . It will take some time for that water to cool down and turn over, IMO.

It will get the water temps near freezing and that's a good start,  then just one more cold front and we're in business  ;D

lets wait & see the paper said today that that last four time Nov was this warm. We had warm winter .Back in 2001 the Average was 52.7 & we had NO ICE that year .This year we Averaged 51.5 in Nov . So this year I'm not ever bring my stuff out untill we have good ice 5 + inches. Here is the weather for Montague NJ. It will cool down the lake but you will get NO ice. Maybe maybe XMAS.I wish it would get really cold but it don't look good rite now

I looked up the Speculator NY in Adirondacks and they have snow and freezing temps in the ten day forcast.  I'm sure they'll be good for some early ice if nothing happenes here in December.  I'm sure it will take a while for Schroon and Lake George to feeze but smaller lakes should lock up fairly fast.  I'll probably take a ride up there for few days if it's not safe  around here before new years.

To many negative thoughts on this topic. We all need to think cold thoughts and pray to the ice gods.

The lakes are close to being ready if we just get a cold snap.  There has been skim ice on some of the ponds the past 2 days in the Vernon, NJ area.   This is the only time the warmer days wont really hurt our chance cause the sun comes up so late and goes down so early.  I agree with iceman.  Hopefully by Christmas.  All it will take is one week of temps in the low 30's during the day and in the upper teens low 20's.  Lets get through this next week or so of warmth then bring it on hopefully. Keep Your finger's crossed.
