Pinedale, Ice Shack Question
« on: Jan 04, 2020, 02:52 PM »
Just wondering before I get one/build one.  Is there a reason no one around Pinedale puts a ice shack, like one on a trailer, and leaves it on the lakes around here?   Such as Fremont/Halfmoon/etc.  I see them in other parts of the state, and I can't find anything in the regulations against it.  I wasn't sure if it was a forrest service issue, or the ice thickness?
I want my world wild not mild, I don't want to live just to grow old.

I’m not really sure, but the way these lakes build overflow, a Ice house would be froze in solid and you’d have a hard time moving it. JMO

Yeah you can’t really drive on our lakes like
You can on say boysen for a number of reasons...firstly to prevent people driving on them they pile up snow on the ones that you can drive a vehicle to, others are many miles on a smowmachine just to get to. Also it snows more here than anywhere in the state so overflow is an issue- our lakes are hundreds of feet deep so it Takes a long time to freeze and therefore doesn’t get as thick of ice as other places. In recent times at least...different ice culture for sure here
