So there are lots of things that you can attach to the D rings on a ice suit,  but I want to know what works best and what people are using.

How much stuff hanging from you is too much?

Any brand specific items?

Possibly with a link to the product?

I use a lanyard as well...clippers, hook sharpener, eye buster and knife. Use it all year. Rapala is the brand. I guess I have a cheap ice suit...don’t have any d-rings! Lol

Near my retractable ice picks, I worked the coiled cord that holds each pick onto a separate key ring.  I then put one key ring onto each D loop with the ice picks attached towards the front.  The key rings keep the ice picks on my jacket at all times, and the picks can't retract since the key rings keep them from doing so.  The coiled wire that holds the picks goes around the back of my neck and shoulders.

Coldsnap toothpick on a retractable lanyard ..UV light on a short leash attached to a carbineer and that is clipped to my bibs suspender strap ..clip a Vexilar towel to the other sides suspender strap .. then I pinch my forceps to my suspender strap as well . The D rings placement just don't suit me  ..on occasion I do hang my plastic ice scoop off of a D ring.

I never thought of carrying anything heavy, I'm gonna have to check my striker ice suit. Due to lung cancer, hut dragging's hard. I wonder if you could rig up something to hang a flasher, spud bar, small seat or something, just for the walk to the lake.

Not off the D rings. You may check out some sort of back pack? I think that Clam makes a pack that is a chair and a pack all in one. Good luck!

there is a video about an ice fishing tournament in finland between the russian ice fishing team and team nils master. the nils team is captained by one of the brothers who founded and run nils. all of the nils guys used a backpack that had a fold out seat on the back side so when they sat on it the top of the pack sat at a forward angle out the front between their legs. it was kind of awesome. here it is.

I hate not fishing
