missiquoi bay
« on: Feb 12, 2019, 05:56 AM »
good morning all, I'm headed up to missiquoi bay Saturday, I rented shanty from martins store just wondering what to expect for fish and how heavy a gear I should take,  I've never fished there before, this will be my first ice trip to VT ice fishing, what do they typically catch in the bay there and how good is it. so any tips would be great thanks and have a good day

Good area for Pike, Perch, gills, You'll get bass, an occasional bowfin maybe an Eye if your lucky enough. Tip ups I'd fish either heavy flouro or steel leaders. Good luck.
Hard water Tight lines Flags up. Doesn't get any better than that

The reef east of Gander Bay is a good spot. There will probably a line of shanties already on top of it. Good luck.

thanks, I am not sure where martin puts his shanties hopefully on a good spot, what's the preferred bait spikes or wax worms up there

I am headed up there this weekend too.  Capt. Gil  can put the shanty in the  area for what you want to fish for.  Just call a few days ahead and you should be good.
Happy fishing, look for the big orange Toyota Tundra and come over and say hi.
