auger extensions

I was wondering what size of an extension you boys run on you auger up there around fairbanks. I was thinking of buying a 12inch extension since I fish mostly around wasilla, but was wondering if I would need a bigger one for fishing up around fairbanks.

I have a 12".  I also have a 6 or 8".  I have only had to use both very few times.
