I have two spinning set ups for bluegill and crappie.

My favorite is a 24" Jason Mitchell Elite series Panfish with a Jason Mitchell reel. The rod is very sensitive. Unfortunately they have been replaced by the Meat Stick.

My second combo is a 23" Fenwick Elite Tech UL with a Jason Mitchell reel. The rod is okay, but not as sensitive as I would like.

I use one of three rods at any given time for panfish. All are spooled with 3# Sufix Ice Magic. Which rod I use depends on the bite.

TUCR Precision Noodle w/ Shimano Sienna 500
TUCR Precision Noodle w/ Abu Garcia Cardinal SX5
TUCR Bullwhip w/ Shimano Sedona 1000

With these rods, all of my panfish needs are met from ice flies to size 4 rippin raps. Awesome combos. I use one PN for 2.5mm-3mm tungsten jigs and ice flies. One PN for 4mm tungsten and ice flies. The Bullwhip is for 5mm tungsten jigs, 1/16oz spoons and size 3-4 rippin raps.

If I had to pick only one combo, it would be the Bullwhip w/ the Sedona.

One of my first custom made setup.  Thorne Bros Panfish sweetheart 32" with Shimano Chronarch 50Mg is still my favorite and most useful baitcasting setup.

Spinning setup that Clam Ice Team Carbon Ice ML 32 has earned the spot.  The K&E Whip'r 36" has earned my UL spot.

I run mostly Shimano Stradic 1000 spinning reels.

SouthBend Mirco Lite 24" rod in Ultralight
With a Pflueger President 20 reel running floro.

If there are any rod builders out there that have matched this rods feel and action let me know I want another rod like it and can never find any Micro lites for sale.

Anything with a full cork handle and graphite rod blank I think is the best.

My "go to" combo is my Jason Mitchell Meat Stick.  Love the rod and reel.  Works great for panfish, perch and even walleye.  I've got a few inline reels that I've tried liking, but to be honest, I'm really not a fan of them!

I've got 3 rods/reels identical to each other that I use for panfish.
Older Dave Gentz Lightning Rod with the all cork handle 24"
Older Qauntum MS00 UL spinning reel
Self installed St. Croix spring bobbers.

Love these set up's

I want to pick up a Aldebaran for ice fishing and double duty, how well does a baitcaster drop lures that are super light during cold days?

I would swap out the Bud Lite with Heinekens but otherwise you're spot on.
