Limits
« on: Dec 28, 2018, 10:57 AM »
A friend brought up a question that I had never even thought of..   How do limits work across state lines?  Let's say I go to WY and catch a limit of 50 perch.  That would put me way over the possession limit here in Colorado.  He is saying that I'm only supposed to keep the Colorado possession limit if I'm bringing them home.  I couldn't find anything about this in the regs.  Thoughts?  Just an added FYI...  I don't even like cleaning a limit of 20 perch so I really doubt I would want to clean 50!

The way it works here is when you enter this state our regulations apply. We can have a license to fish on native reservations which have more liberal limits, but when we leave the reservations, we have to comply with state regulations. We can get a reservation transportation permit, but once off the reservation it is invalid. I can't speak for other states and their regulations.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

CDOW would have to prove you caught them in colorado to be illegal. As long as you have a Wyoming license tell them to pound sand! ;D

I came back from new york last winter with like 300 perch fillets, which is legal there.    In the event that a search of your home freezer is conducted you probably have bigger problems than that limit of perch you brought home from your out of state trip.  I think having the lisence from the state you were in would suffice.
