Best deal on a new hut
« on: Dec 01, 2018, 04:25 PM »
Hey all, I’m in the market for a new insulated 2 man flip over hut. Located here in PA we don’t have access to a bunch of stores selling equipment but I am within driving distance of FishUSA and Cabelas.

I’m really liking the looks of the Otter X Over Pro which FishUSA doesn’t stock, but cabelas does.

FishUSA has the X-Over but not the Pro.

So I have 2 questions.

Is the upgraded seats and tarp worth the price of the Pro-X (I think they would be)
And
Do you think there will be any sales in the near future prior to ice season on shelters I should wait for or do you think I should pull the trigger and place an order?

If at all possible I’d like to avoid shipping charges and go pick up the hut myself that’s why I limited this to FishUSA or Cabelas.

Can’t wait for ice
-Carl

If you live and fish in PA, you don’t want an Otter two man unless you're young, strong and stupid.  They’re too damned heavy to drag without a machine unless you’ve got bare ice, which is rare.  Trust me on this one.  Been there, done that.  Just sold my Otter XT1200 Pro Lodge for a song last week.  Do yourself a favor and look at the lighter alternatives.

They are great quality. I doubt your going to see many sales until the end of the season at this point. I have s heavy 2 man and as stated above to truly enjoy have a machine to pull it. If you don't have a machine experience will tell you lighter is better.
