ice held locally
« on: Dec 28, 2018, 12:43 PM »
at least one pond did. up the hill, where else.  ;D others the edges were to thin to bother.
5 inches of black ice.  used my trout tilts, 4lb leaders, #6 hooks with medium shiners.
pretty much flags every 10 minutes, 2 up a few times. nothing Yuge except a couple of perch. again nudging close to a lb.
dies out from 1045 to 1130, so i started lunch..and 2 flags go up!  lasted until 1245 and cloud front started rolling in and the bite died.
heaviest bass was only 2.11, perch 15 oz.  i have never caught so many blob perch.  :o
total 9 bass, 4 perch, one slime dart break off.
a few pics
a couple of bass

15 oz perch

we need consistent cold to firm it all up

Not a bad outing. After today's rain it looking like clear skies. However looking like the temps are hovering right above freezing for kost of the week. Hopefully we will see some cold soon.

Now that's what I call a good day on the ice.

It rarely fails . . . fire up the stove, and the fish will hit.

On the 27th I took a drive up RT119 through Ashburnham to Rindge area. Saw people out on the ice in Ash and Jaffery while
checking out a couple spots for yesterday morning to fish in spite of the weather. Ice was solid and 5" in Rindge.
