i have a 7" strikemaster lazer, allong with my jiffy legend xt, but anyway i can beat just about any power auger with that thing. i keep the blades sharp with diamond steel and that thin will rip. i can take 3/4" of ice away per rotation. i used to only use this, but drilling 40 holes with a foot of ice gets very tiring, now i switch to my jiffy when ice is more than 6"

had a 6" mora, OK as long as the blades were sharp, switched to a 4" Lazer cuts like a hot knife through butter compared to the mora, also used the 4" fin-bore, similar to the Lazer but faster (due to the offset handles) plus it folds in half for easy storage without taking it apart (nice feature) and finally for Xmas got a 6" fin-bore haven't used it yet but if it's like the 4" it will be sweet  Cliff

Hey man, glad to hear you got a new auger. Just be careful not to damage the blades or you will not be happy. Have a great season.

What is the best way to sharpen the mora blades yourself? Just wondering if it can be done, as replacement blades are like 20 something each.

You'll be sorry if you sharpen them yourself. The angle has to be absolutly PERFECT otherwise they won't cut worth a darn. What I always TRY to do is buy my blades at the end of the ice season.... they are ussually cheaper then. Also, if you think you don't need to replace blades after a certain season... fo rwhatever reason.... give the blades a coating of WD-40...... that has seemed to help.

good luck!!
Dave
