Butler Island/night island

anyone been out fishing by butler island this year. How thick is the ice, just curious if it froze across there this year. Never have crazy luck out there, but like trying a different spot out there each year it freezes safe. Big trip is coming up on the 17th for the week, can't wait to get out there again. I had to retire my 1970 Olympic, but I replaced it with a 2017 550f Tundra lt. Can't wait to play with it on Champlain. Its still loaded with fish decals....Hope everyone having luck and stay safe :-). Thanks for any info you guys can share.

Ice out there is pretty thick similar to everywhere else on northern Champlain. I was out at Butler 3 weeks ago and it was over a foot then. Watch out for the heaves though. That area gets some pretty good ones and with the snow it is hard to see what is around the heave for ice. Often times it creates some open water when one edge pulls back due to wind and we have had lots of wind from all directions.

Thanks for the info we had the pleasure of being out there and sliding sidways 5 inches one day as the ice heaved that sure does wake u up...
