New Canadian & Ontario Record Rainbow Trout

I just heard about this story tonight on the local new and though I would share it.

New Ontario & Canadian Record Ranbow Trout. 8)

Caught: Sept. 21st/2005

Length: 39 inches

Girth:    29 inches

Weight: 40.68 lbs

Water Body: McGregor bay, Lake Huron

Closest Town: Little Current

Lure: AC Shiner

What a hawg. I've seen some pics of rainbows over 30 pounds in Colorado but nothing like that.

Is there a "link" to the newspaper article or TV station report? I just can't imagine a 39 inch fish weighing quite that much?

I looked all over the Internet and could find no mention of this fish? The World Record is on there at 37 pounds and change though. So this is a NEW world record, and it took six months to be reported? Something smells fishy??

I think the world record rainbow trout is 42 pounds and from Bell Island AK.

True, my mistake. Still, no official mention of this fish anywhere to be found. Just one newspaper article with this and that about unofficial weighings, witnesses, etc.  -Jim
