I confrm.  You got to use very flashy and wobling spoons or loud noise bait like rip n rap to "call" the fish.

I was out at Hog Island today and can confirm as well, but it was better than it has been considering. Still was able to manage some perch.

What's the best public access to Hog Island?  Many years ago I went up there and we drove down to a "public boat launch" that was basically an unplowed dirt road and we had to drag a ton of gear a long ways to fish.  What's the shortest route to the most productive areas??  Thanks!
My mission is goin' fishin'.

The boat launch and the road are regularly plowed.  Easy access.

Water on the Tabor point side was pretty clear today. However the bite was slow.

So i fished up gander / goose bay yesterday near the little island off the access.   Water is still quite cloudy. 7-1 and got only one flag.

Bad spot or bad day for that spot? New to fishing that area......debating on going back another day.

Anyonee have success near that little island in winter?

Good luck all !

I rarely have success a "pirate island" in winter, caught a few perch late in the season but thats about it. You want to head further west into goose and gander and find the 4-6ft of water.

WVBoy- thanks for the info! Will certainly focus my efforts in other areas up there. It just looked too good to not try 😀

Best,
