auto wax for bottom of flip over
« on: Jan 01, 2018, 08:35 AM »
Any one use anything on the bottom of their flip over to make it slide better.  Have no need for wear strips as I haul from back yard right unto ice.  I have used auto wax in the past but wonder if there is anything better.   Thanks.

Good ol' Johnson's Paste Wax. Two heavy coats, don't buff off.

Possible that ski wax may work better?

any thoughts on using 220 grit sandpaper or finer to lightly smooth over any nicks on the bottom of the tub before using wax.  Thanks.   Dave

I'd just let the nicks and scratches fill with the wax Dave. The only exception would be a serious gouge that left a big "divot" sticking up. Cut or sand it off but don't worry about filling in.

Thank you very much.  Have one coat of wax on and about ready to do another as suggested.     Dave

many say ski wax is best.

those are the reasons you would install hyfax. over time this is what wears the hole in the tub. beside it pulls easier in slush and snow up to the height of the hyfax and then some and is quieter on ice and tracks true.
