Mille Lacs Lake | Highs and Lows
« on: Jan 04, 2018, 08:54 AM »
My buddy Tony and I hit the road after Christmas to go and chase some Walleyes on Mille Lacs Lake. We had plans to fish shallow structure during the low light hours and then head out to deeper structure during the day using an ATV. Day 1 the temps had warmed up some from the recent negative temps but we were surprised to find a very slow bite. The slow day was topped off by some ATV problems which left us scratching our heads on what to do for Day 2. As it turned out our options were minimal so we decided to pull out on the lake by hand to some shallow structure. It was -15 when we hit the lake but we were greeted by a bunch of hungry Walleye!

NICE vid . Do your hands get clammy from wearing the nitrile gloves ?

They sweat a bit under those gloves but they usually keep them warmer than without. The reason I wear them (sometimes) is because I have a skin allergy to freshwater fish (never noticed it with Trout or Saltwater Fish). 5-7 days after I handle bait or fish slime, I get little bubbles under the skin of my hands which leads way to pill sized areas of dead skin. This just keeps happening until most of the skin on my hand has been removed. My hands are in rough shape at the moment so I try to use those when I can in the winter to slow it down a bit. They are not perfect but it helps out quite a bit when I remember to wear them. My only allergy that I know of and Fishing just so happens to be my biggest passion... >:( >:( >:(
