first time out with helix 7 ice

upgraded this year from the x67c to the ice  helix 7     lots going on and hard to get set up    it seems like i had to turn the ice fishing mode off to get the flasher and battery meter   changed the time to my zone but it didnt save it and next time i turned it on it was a hour off again   my battery lasted 7.5 hours without me turning down the backlight and doing all the things ive read to conserve energy   i think it will be a sweet unit once i get it figured out   can the gps be turned off?   which screens do i make visible and which ones do i hide so i dont have to scroll through them all?  how do i set the bottom zoom?  instructions were not very clear to this oldtimer

Do you have a first or second generation helix? Second generation will have a sticker left of the power button that says CHIRP G2

just bought it  pretty sure it is the g2  no sticker beside the power button  ill go double check

It's not at all complicated.

I run 4 screens for ice fishing and hide the rest. 1 standard graph screen, 2 standard graph and zoomed graph split screen, 3 circle flasher screen, 4 GPS screen. If I remember correctly you adjust the zoom by bringing up the zoom screen and adjusting it through the menu button options. I can double check when I get home from work
