Humminbird Helix 5

Anyone have any thoughts on the Helix 5 ice set up? Been looking at moving on from the more traditional Marcum flasher to a digital unit and like the price point of the Helix 5. Would appreciate any reviews.

Lots of reviews on here if you use the search feature.

I used a first generation helix 5 last winter and really liked it. Great screen and easy to use. I upgraded to a Helix 7 G2 with the CHIRP ice transducer this year, waiting for ice to try it out, but i love it so far on my boat.

My buddy uses a 5 w/ GPS and a LakeMaster chip and I just followed suit with a 7. Both of our units are G1, the new G2's have Chirp and are about 50.00 more. I'd have no issues with buying this set-up.

I purchased one last season.  I thought it was great.  The screen is super sharp.

I have and love the helix 5. Supper nice to be able to mark holes that produce fish and be able to go right back to that spot as a starting point for the next adventure out. have had zero issues. Its been out in 30 below and never missed a beat.

I used a Helix 5 dozens of times last season and never had a problem with it. I don't fish inside of a shanty and used it a few times when temps didn't get above 5 degrees and it still worked fine.
