Pike Bait 2

 Here is the pike bait I just bought at Dakota Angler. They are 3-5" inch chubs.

First picture is hard to tell what size type they are.  Second picture looks like shiners and maybe some chubs.  First thing about your chubs they have some serious issues going on.  Their gill area are extremely blood shot, and inflamed.  They look extremely stressed and it could be other issues.  My guess is probably poor water quality where ever they are being kept.

Look like medium to large shiners. Don't be suprised at catching a whopper of a pike on a dead bait over a large one. I would even try dead alewives which you can buy frozen, or even frozen smelt.

Dead bait works well on pike.  I stomp on the bait to let some blood guts scent out and place a single hook at the dorsal fin to hang it horizontal,  I've also scene where people thread the hook through the vent and down through the body so it comes out the mouth this way it hangs upside down verticall

And when out of dead bait bring on the hot dog!

yes  6 to 14 in suckers for sure
