Otter cabin in ram short box
« on: Nov 11, 2016, 10:57 PM »
I know the otter website says its 66" and the ram 1500 short box says its 5'7" (67") but will it really fit? Hoping someone has this set up.

Wondering the same also, in light, I have an Otter Pro Cabin, and a ram shortbox I bought recently, put a tonneau cover on it right after. We are about to move to a new house so I guess I will find out how well it fits then. Im sure it will fit to the tailgate, just not sure if itll fit with the tonneau cover over it.

Not sure on the ram but my Otter cabin fits in my 66" short box f150. My tonneau cover closes also. It has a bench seat though, not sure if that makes a difference to the height.

Will it fit in the box yes, will it fit if you have a tonneau cover that extends past the top of the box? Maybe. I have an access cover on mine and it barley fits meaning I have to pay attention on the house when folding it up so the fabric is not bulky on either end along with putting a shoulder into the tail gate to get it to latch. It will not fit under a tonneau cover if that is your goal.

I have a silverado  6.6 bed.  It fits obviously.  But  my  low pro tq tonneau does not close.      I have a otter cabin.  I really lIke the shack and  only paid $200.   But if I was shopping for one I would probably go with one that fit.    Even though the otter I know is one of the best quality ones.

It really doesn't matter so much if it fits for me. I leave the tailgate down & run a strap across the box at the gate which keeps my shack from slipping out. My auger has never fallen out going down the road. The misc. lighter gear goes in the tub or the cab depending on the distance driven. ;)

I can fit my otter lodge in the back of my 2007 quad cab short box ram and it is closer to 77".  It's a really tight fit but it will fit.  Height is too tall for a Tonnueau cover.

Not sure why your Ram box is so much shorter, newer Ram?
