20 pound braid and 12 pound florocarbon leader. Tube jigs with white tubes, I also like some big custom have hair jigs, ripping raps and jigging spoons in either hammered gold or silver.

Short answer = Yup

Long answer = Read a lot of threads down in the Laker forum and get the same basics - adjust the specifics as needed for your waters (which is the real gold down there).
Trust me, when the Zamboni driver says "You won't catch fish through that hole", he knows of what he speaks.

Here's what I use. I have 15 lb mono on my lake trout poles. I use a variety of lures until I find the one they are biting. My two best lures are a white Swedish pimple and a white airplane jig. Both tipped with a minnow head.

some of the heavy fluoro is stiff and does not come off the reel well.

I've actually started using nanofil or similar products. It doesn't hold water like braid and there's no stretch. Use a tiny barrel swivel to connect the main line to the fluro.

Line 24# Tuf-Line Supercast: https://tuf-line.com/product/supercast/
This braid is coated and does not absorb water. It handles as well as mono but has no stretch for detecting light bites.

Been using 6lb fireline for the lake trout for 15 years now.   It has a breaking strength of more like 13lbs or so.    I pair that with a 5ft to 10ft leader of flouro.   Big fan of the seaguar in the red box.   I normally run a 12lb flouro leader, but i will drop down to 8 if the fish fish want small lures.

Lure wise, if you can make them chase, nothing beats a swimbait with a good tail kick

Your rod, lure type /weight, and reel spool to a large extent will dictate the line. Heavy jigs work ok on coarse line. Flutter spoons need finer line to work and feel the stop on decent. Airplane jigs & rapalas need fine line to do their thing well. If you get down to tandem streamers weighted with lead wire for the "dieing decent" tactic you may have to go down to the 6# line range which means a lite rod for a bit of cussion & feel. That by the way is what you'll be using when you hook up with one or those big old sows that flatly refuses to come up off bottom. May take an hour and a couple hundred yds of line just to get a peek!
