Where to Fish? Unfamiliar With CT
« on: Feb 15, 2017, 11:17 AM »
I'm down in CT for a couple days and may have the opportunity to get out and do some fishing tomorrow. I live in NH and am not quite used to hunting for safe ice in the middle of winter. I'm in Fairfield County and really am not too familiar with the state of CT. From reading the board I know ill have to drive a ways to find safe ice. Can anyone recommend a safe body of water I could get into some halfway decent action for some warmwater species, or a general area in the state thats been cold enough to keep safe ice? Also, if anyone could recommend a good bait shop that would be much appreciated as well.

Thanks all

Great thanks for the info. Wish I could get some pike fishing in but that's probably better left for a day when the girlfriend and her puppy won't be tagging along. Going to do some research but is there anywhere to get bait up that way?

Thanks for the info guys. Stopped at sanzeris for bait and went to dog pond. Got a late start so I figured we'd head somewhere on the small side. The wind made jigging tough but we caught all the crappie and pickerel we could handle with a few yellows and bluegill mixed in. The crappie didn't quite have the size I was hoping for but still lots of fun and plenty of safe ice. Thanks again for the info.

Maggie is about 11 weeks old now. She got a little chilly but toughed it out like a champ!

Glad you made it out and made and got aome good numbers.

I have 4 purebreed German shorthaired pointers at home one of which is all black . Looking at this picture, I realize why every one thinks he's a black lab. Doesn't help that he's a solid 90lbs. Now I wonder what people are going to think my 12 week old all brown is.
Just add water.
