Cabelas VXR Flasher
« on: Nov 02, 2016, 11:31 AM »
I've been trying to get my buddy to pop on a flasher since I got an lx-7. He doesn't want to spend the coin on an lx-7 but he found used Cabelas VXR for $175.

I cant find a ton of info about them. Looks like they were made by Marcum but nothing much on performance. anyone have any experience/know if it would be decent?

I believe its a Marcum VX1 or VX2 made for  Cabelas ....think the wattage is lower 600...and some limited IR mode

If it's anything like my Gander Mountain Guide Series GSX it's a Marcum VX1 .......
600 watts,5 IR......It's worked well for me over the years

175 is way to much for that unit.

I thought 175 was too much too. My biggest concern is the units IR when in the same hut as my lx-7

Only one units IR should be used...you may not clear up all the interference but enough to fish .

This will only be my second year with a flasher and I am the only one of my friends to have them so maybe I am confused. However, wouldn't I need to activate my unit's IR to keep interference from his machine off my screen while he does the same to keep interference from my unit off his screen?

Only one flasher. Doesn't do any good trying both. ;). Probably the better unit would be the one to try.

No ...just cycle though one units IR button...I would suggest the LX7s as there should be more mode.. that should clear up both units clutter .

LX7 manual

IR (INTERFERENCE REJECTION) – The Interference Rejection system is designed to suppress competing return signals from other sonar units being used within close proximity. When other sonar units are causing interference to the display of the Digital Sonar, activate the IR feature by depressing the IR button located on the control panel of the Digital Sonar. Interference is indicated by unusual signals flashing or scrolling across your display.
There are 12 levels, or channels, of interference rejection. Press the IR button once to open the IR window, now use the UP/DOWN buttons to select the desired level of IR. The correct level of IR will be achieved when the display is clear of display clutter. In some extreme cases, clutter will be greatly reduced but not totally eliminated.
Anytime two or more sonars are being operated in proximity to each other, there is the potential for interference. Deep water and hard bottom will increase the likelihood that one or more of the competing sonars will experience interference. Besides experimenting with different levels of IR, theanglers experiencing interference can also try having their transducers set at different levels, going to narrow cone angles, and reducing gain or sensitivity settings.
