Prickett dam/lake
« on: Jan 31, 2017, 11:55 AM »
Does anyone know if the road to the public launch is plowed during the winter? Has anyone ever tried ice fishing this lake? I assume its a tough one to navigate during the winter between the snow and dead heads everywhere. Any info on prickett would be appreciated

road is only plowed to Silver mountain lodge. then it is snowmobile trail. I fished it a few winters ago, we we had less snow and you could get there. I had tip ups out and had flags , but they got caught in all the debris and never landed a fish

I would not want to risk fishing on the lake. They announced that they would be lowering the water level for winter a while ago. The ice cover was already there. You could be on ice that isn't even sitting on the water because it is held up by the stumps. I don't know for positive that this is the case but it sure seems likely.

When I lived there we fished it one winter. They had dropped the lake level, and it was the coolest thing ever, the ice was suspended on the trees creating in spots a ice roof over the lake. Dangerous as hell. I love that lake like fire, having my ashes spread there when I die.
