Got out in Kingston
« on: Jan 14, 2017, 04:19 PM »
Not sure of the name of the pond wasn't very big. Ice was about 3-4 inches, place has some jumbo perch! Biggest was 13 inches and most were between 9-12 inches. Kept about 8 plus 1 crappie. 3 on tip ups with rest on the jig sticks. Golden shiner colored Lindy darter and 1/32 tungsten fire tiger jig tipped with clam makie plastic (motor oil color)were on fire today, also got 2 slime darts on tip ups. Probaly caught over 30 fish today! Hope everyone else had a good day looking forward to tommorow.

Man this weather is killing me. Some places that were looking good early last week were wide open again today. This extended forcecast looks like crap too. Good on you for getting out.

Did a lot of scouting but it's a place I've been walking by for 2 years now. I agree this weather is for the birds.

I'm surprised you had that much over there, good for you ! I'd rather catch big perch on the jig rod than 2 lb bass on a tilt anyday.

Hang on to hope - there has been a February cold snap which led to a refreeze each of the past two years - 10 day looks like crap but winter has at least six weeks left

I'm hanging on to it bright side is this place held on through the 60 degree days so I think it can handle 40s next week(let's hope) got some big bait I'm gonna try there to tommorow see if I can hook into a bass or 2

Got out again today in Kingston, no luck with the bass although I had 2 flags with line peeled off quite aways with clumps of weeds coming up, managed 5 slime darts 2 were over 20inches 1 choked on my 6 inch shiner that was lucky to be all of 8 Inches. Vexilar picked up a lot of activity today but fish were really finicky compared to yesterday still managed to jig up over a dozen perch biggest was around 12 inches chrome tungsten 1/32 jig with clam makei plastic in pink, and the Lindy chubby darter in golden shiner, did try a perch colored one as well with no luck. Lost last gold tungsten 1/32 jig to a pickerel. Hopefully this weather takes doesn't destroy the ice but warm and rain are never good.

Weird I was way west of you . I had stacks of fish on the vex. At times they bit every drop and then they would stop.. I just rotated holes and picked away. Slowed down in the afternoon like always. Have you tried the tiny crappie tubes ?

I haven't tried the tubes but I'm liking these clam plastics highly recommend them.
