big blue gills where do you target them

we were after them in 20' sandy bottom where do you fish them? check out how we did it

awesome video! those are some slabs. really shouldn't reel while fish is pulling out drag though, it twists the crap out of the line.

Nice fish.  To answer your question, I usually find dandys in thick weeds.  Weeds so thick that the vex is worthless.  Use a heavy, small tungsten jig and get it down through the weeds......

Serious question or just an advertisement for your youtube page?

Same place all the other ones are, the big ones are usually on the bottom and move slow.. Fishing high for the quick moving ones yields dinks.

reeling against the peeling drag gets you no where.lol.but twisty curly line.nice vid tho gills were impressive size.

When we have safe ice,,,,I like 15' depth with scattered weeds. I'll watch your video later,,,if I start youtubing right now,,,I'll be on it the rest of the night,,lol!

we have been getting some real dandies but its always only a few really want to catch them more consistantly
