Joe's Pond
« on: Feb 04, 2017, 08:40 PM »
Buddy of mine just got into ice fishing and put his shanty out on Joe's. So far just some perch and smelt. Does anyone here fish it regularly? If yes, are there any trout in there worth going after? Any tips would be helpful. Thanks guys.

Its funny that you advocated throwing walleye into Joes without even knowing anything about the kind of fishery it is. Kind of embarassing.....for you.

I agree with you 100% that you shouldn't put fish in water bodies they don't belong as they can negatively impact the native species example the white perch in Magog

I would say I fish it regularly but there are some good good browns in joes. I have seen a few 5 pounders come out of there. If you want to hammer the smelt go 60 to 70 yards off the boat launch. But because it seems like everyone is buying bait fish they like those more. The only thing I can say is it can be slow it isn't a pond where you are gonna catch 5 or 6 a day but if you go off the boat launch and follow the left shore line there is a river and in about 25 30 ft of water we have found some browna. Also there is a big sunken rock pile out there that's a good spot but really any where straight off the boat launch is good but again be prepared to wait for one but when you get one they are usually a good football brown. Good luck
Tight lines
