Showdown ice trolle issue
« on: Dec 24, 2016, 12:14 AM »
I've had the showdown for a few years, and it had to be shipped back to repair the same issue twice.

The unit would not turn on completely. Push the button, system beeps and screen looks like it's on, but shuts off immediately.
Sam issue that was repaired both times before, last time was last year.

Now it's doing it again and I've had it. The unit would work properly at first, but would crap out after awhile.

I am fortunate that I learned to jig "old school" without electronics so my outing wasn't ruined.

I want to have a flasher for when I take rookies out to allow them to get an idea of what happens down below.

I can't be bothered about getting it "fixed" again if it only going to crap out again later on.

Are you sure your battery is good? Might take a charge but have a weak cell.

both my trollers 2.0 did that when batteries were dead.my troller 2.0 also performed better with the performance pack with a 12 volt 9 ah battery than it did with AA batteries.less gain and jig displayed better.battery status would read 100% and still be dead.

yep, try it on a known working 12 volt battery like your car to test if it is really broken. sla batteries are cheap. 20$ or so.
if you are using double aa, i suggest getting into eneloop batteries and a good charger like a powerx made by maha or better.
if your using a marcum charger or one like it, try a battery tender jr and you'll be glad you did to keep your 12 volts charged correctly.
check amazon for all of it.

The 12v battery had been fully charged and I had also put in fresh AAA batteries.
(I've experienced the low battery power shut down as well)

I can check the battery levels with the unit and they both showed 100%.

The problem I fear I the same problem that I had to have them fix twice before.

If you are using an 12V battery and it is fully charged I would look into the cable that attaches to the unit. I had a similar problem and it was just the connection. Once I got it working I never unplugged it again and never had a problem since. If I do I will try some Dielectric geese on it.
