I haven't drilled any holes yet will go check Sunday though. Haven't heard any one reporting yet. I drove by several lakes yesterday and several were locked up however there were a couple that had a small areas open to from geese and drainage. I won't go out  and set up until we have a good 6 inches thoroughly. Always been my rule. I lost a good friend to this sport so I'm always extra cautious. I'll report Sunday what I find anxious to hear from anyone in the area what they have found. Below zero Temps are our friend when it comes to ice fishing.

In N Peoria Co the part of my lake that froze over last Friday had over 5" yesterday.  But wind and geese kept one spot open until 2 days ago.

south of victoria 3 miles drilled 2 holes in 2 different lakes 20 feet from shore. found barely 4 inches. have had reports of other lakes with 5 inches nearby.  I figured the lakes i checked would have been thicker.

Two nights of below zero temps it will be interesting to see how much the ice built. This upcoming week will help my lake get to that 6-8 inch or more by the new year. Anyone else have any reports for the victoria area?

My uncle was on some stripmine lakes over by Laura and he was on 3.5 - 5" yesterday. Guess they cleaned up pretty good on gills crappie and bass.

5.5 inches of solid clear ice with 1/2 of slush on top from melted snow. Unfortunately with the warm up and rain comn the ice will continue to deteriorate. We can only hope the weather turns and gets cold cold. We fished today on some good ice but i know its slowly going downhill. The bite was very slow today only had about a dozen keepers. South of victoria 4 miles private club strip mine. Id be tbere now at night with minnows for crappie if i could.
