Exchanging the covering on fish trap?
« on: Dec 16, 2016, 12:38 PM »
Not sure how to ask this....
I have a Clam fish trap guide series 2 man portable, since there is a mouse hole ( I can repair) and I would like a shanty with the quilted fabric covering anyway.....I was wondering if they make just a quilted covering I could replace the original with?

I believe they sell replacement parts on their website but like Whopper Stopper said, call or email them for a specific answer. When they give you an answer, make sure you tell us so other people can be helped. I have a Guide as well that I would like to eventually replace the tent.

Okay! I took Whopper Stoppers advice and called their toll free number. If you call them you want customer service, however the very helpful lady gave me all the information I think you need.
For my series they have a replacement covering called the "Nanook thermal tent" part number is 3646 which you can locate on their website......cost is $229.99 + tax and shipping!

Do manufactures even sell replacement tents (the fabric). I feel like the frames and sleds are lifetime pieces when you take care of them, use hyfax, common sense. The fabric will give up first, after weather and rodents. If you can just replace the fabric they don't sell more units.

I wanted to convert my frabill commando to a thermal tent commando and frabill told me that model is discontinued and they have no more tents or parts besides sleds.so when my tent is shot my shelter is trash.

You might be able to go to a custom fabric shop and see if they can pre-make a new tent for you out of a thermal fabric. Probably would be cheaper than buying a whole new shelter. Or look in craigslist/ebay for a used shelter for parts.

Replaced the tent on my 10 year old Clam Yukon last year with the thermal version.  Was simple, and Clam was great to work with.  Planning to get 10 more years out of it now.
