Mounting solution for 7 inch Lowrance units
« on: Nov 18, 2016, 04:20 PM »
So I'm in the process of rigging up my Lowrance Hook 7 that I use on the boat to be a backup sonar unit for ice fishing (I use my LX-5, but it would be nice to have an extra for visiting friends, the wife, etc).  After some searching on this site and some research elsewhere, I've found the transducer and power cord I'd need, but have also learned that the Lowrance "ice packs" only support units up to 5 inches.

As such, I'm looking for a mounting solution.  The best idea I've come up with is to pick up one of the blue Genz packs and to mount the unit by just screwing in the standard gimbal mount that comes with the unit into it.  This isn't necessarily ideal, though I think it could work.

Has anybody else had success with getting a 7 inch unit mounted onto something for ice fishing?  I'd like a "soft pack" type solution for extra protection, but that is proving difficult at the moment.  I'm hoping I just haven't looked in the right places.  Thanks in advance!!

There is a Lowrance hook 7 in the equipment section  on this site near the top that you may want to check out. A guy in Ankeny did a top notch job on a case mod that looked fantastic, I don't know how to post a link otherwise I would.
