Snowmobile Help
« on: Nov 06, 2016, 06:05 PM »
I have a 1992 Arctic Cat Ext 550 EFI and the killswitch/emergency stop Knob broke off. I bought the Kill Switch and self tapping screw that is supposed to come with it but it seems like I am missing a piece inside the snowmobile because there is nothing to screw into. Will I still be able to start and run my snowmobile with out it? Anyone ever repair one of these before? Thanks for the help!!

I've always replaced the entire switch with housing when mine have failed in the past.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't see anything for the housing when I was looking for parts on the Arctic Cat website but I think I'm going to drive all the way to Troy Power Sports to see what they say. Hopefully it won't be a headache to deal with.

cut the wires going to the kill switch and just use the key to turn it on/off

Thank for the  tips!! I'll give livingstons a call, any reason why you prefer Livingstons over Troy Powersports?

Livingstons is Arctic Cat mecca. Largest Arctic Cat dealer in the area by far and have been for many, many years. Their parts department has everything.

Ended up seeing the guys over in Troy and they were really nice! Just replaced the whole console and I even got the sled to start up!! Lots of smoke and couldn't get idling longer than about 2 minutes but it's a start. Thanks for the help everyone.

Lots of smoke with a sled is a good thing. It's when there is no smoke that you wanna worry!

I guess I'm in good shape then! Threw some sea foam and startron in there, that should do the trick hopefully
