Admittedly I'm getting excited even started to buy some ice gear and get things ready. I'm still content trolling for now and even managed a nice salmon today. After wards I scouted out a new ice fishing rainbow area for me. It's a stream inlet surrounded by a huge flat. Wanted to see exactly where the channel/deeper water is from my canoe. Once the ice is in that would be impossible to find. Hopefully it will pay off.

29 degrees Friday morning at First Lake.

that's colder than aloT of days we had last JANUARY!.......

I need a little warmer lows than that this week... I took the week off to striper fish...old bones  in a boat for 6 or seven hours at night just aint no fun when it's below 50..

CD I was only able to fish 1/2 days on Wednesday & Thursday. Hit Third Lake and the river Wednesday. Wind was tough at Third what else is new. Caught some small brookies on the river. Thursday Bamb308 and I took a road trip to Umbagog and hit the smallies real good. A couple near 3 lbs and a few 2 lbers. Great fighters. Wish I lived closer to there.

I've been ridiculously busy working the past couple months.

My normal 40+hrs M-F as a Carpenter Foreman.
Then week nights until 10pm at my sister's house doing up grades and repairs so she can put it on the market.
Then 20hrs+ on Saturday and Sundays residing my Aunt's house.

Busting My Butt now. But come Ice In I'll be fishing every weekend with my son. Really lookin forward to it.

It doesn't get any better than that!  Hawkeye and I have been working on our winter plans for the winter while we have been squirrel hunting the last couple weekends.  The squirrels have been elusive however we have had to beat the deer off with a stick (soon to disappear) and we had a bear stroll by at 50 yrds or so that had his attention until it got wind of us and bolted.

I wished we lived closer to those smallies as well, they are a blast.

It's 58 at my house now and for the next ten days the warmest it's supposed to get is 65.  This cooler weather is putting my ice fishing itch into over drive to say the least.

Was up in the Adirondacks over the weekend.... woke up to 27 degree temps and lots of warmth coming off the lakes (heavy fog)... not giving up on open water, but the hard stuff is coming!

gong to use this N/E  blow to clean and lubricate my reels.. repair any rods/ guides  that looked damaged then put away most of my open water gear... One more trip Tuesday night and I'm bringing the boat home for the winter.. Ice gear is at the ready...leaders tied.. triggers tuned... I even charged the battery in the Marcum...new trailer is ready..just need to put the chains on the wheeler and I'll be  good to go... I agree with Keith.. about 3 months...just enough time to scout Maine( registered the wheeler there as well this year) and get my Honey -do list done before I start disappearing on the weekends...

Best thing about hunting season is how it makes that time fly until the water freezes. We're due for a good one this year.
