MyFishFinder.com Just like iceshanty but warmer
I think I have the Gen 2 which was the last gen you had to take the chuck off. I like it and never take the drill off. For $100 for the bare tool its a cheap power head. Clam was also really cool and sent me a shaft for it so I can put the Milwaukee fuel drill on it with the 1200 in/lb torque....I might do it some day, but my 725in/lb drill or whatever it is works just fine on my 8in nils. $150 ($100 for tool, $50 for clam plate) for a power head is cheap.
thanks for the update Monticatgeek I'm actually going down to 5 inch this year and have run 6 before but sold the plate so others could see how cool they are.
do you have a 5 inch auger already or are you going to buy one. also do you ever get over to Minnesota for the St Paul Ice Fishing Show. just wondering because I have a complete 5 inch set up I put together last season (gen 4 plate)(minus the drill) and never used it except for may be three test holes. I would give you a deal on it if you were able to meet up with me here in Minnesota. it has the extension on it too.
super I appreciate your help and your posts
rr78 didn't we talk last season about yours
so why I said to wait on getting a plate is because if you want to run a 8 inch auger then you will need to get a gen 4 plate (last years and also this years) and the gear box.
Buddy runs a 8" mora on his Milwaukee setup with the clam plate and haven't had any problems
It's all about battery life with the drill setup. I use a 6" lazer on a Milwaukee M18Fuel and even hole hopping in SD last year never ran out of battery on the second one. But, an 8 inch has about twice the area to cut than a 6 inch, so it will take twice the juice to do the same work. (8" = 50.24 square inches, 6" = 28.26 square inches). The gear box will essentially make the drill feel the 8" hole like a 6" but with the gear reduction, will drill have as fast as without it.I think it will be nice for bigger holes for sightfishing, etc, but I won't need nor use it for my 6 inch auger.
